{Advice} Should you assign seats at the reception?

We way up the pros and cons of letting your guests choose their own seats at your reception, or doing it for them…

1. Tell your guests where they’re sitting

PROS – Even if you don’t want to designate each person’s seat, assigning a table will help keep things organised, especially if it’s a big wedding.

CONS – Assigning each guest a seat can be emotionally draining, as it requires the couple to take into consideration every person and where each would feel most comfortable sitting.

2. Let everyone choose his or her seat

PROS – This is so much easier for the couple. If you have a younger crowd attending or if your reception is more casual, not having a seating chart can encourage mixing and mingling in a fun, natural way.

CONS – When everyone is jockeying for a seat, it actually makes the seating process harder for all the guests. Some people may get confused as to where they have to sit and this can be a big time waster.
