{Good Advice} How to end an engagement

You were over the moon when your SO (Significant Other) proposed. You immediately got on the phone, to let everyone know you are off the market. You couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle. But something changed. You don’t know why, when or how. Or worse your partner cheated.

 

Now you sometimes lie awake trying to imagine what your relationship with your spouse would be like five decades down the line and you panic. It seems the only solution to your sleepless nights is to call off the wedding. Whatever reasons you may have for ending your engagement,  here are a few tips on how to end it amicably.

1) Be honest about why you want to end the engagement. Refrain from playing the blame game or making excuses.

 

2) Return the engagement ring, to the rightful owner, be it your ex fiance or whichever family member it belongs to.

 

3) Alert both families and bridal party members about your decision to end your engagement in private. Be honest with them, they deserve to know the truth.

 

4) Cancel any wedding arrangements that have already been made. This might include: venue, invitations, vendor services etc.
