The contemporary Main Lodge was completed in November 2017. It accommodates a total of 60 guests in 30 rooms. The grand yet beautifully simple structure was designed to enhance the organic beauty of the surrounding wilderness.
The Lodge’s classic wood and leather décor is the epitome of sophistication and comfortable simplicity. The uniquely designed outdoor area has a spacious deck built around indigenous trees, overlooking a watering hole – where you can spend hours gazing at the scenery and spotting great African wildlife in their natural habitat.
If you need to cool off after a day in the sun, take a dip in the Lodge’s infinity pool with an icy drink, or head back to your room for an outdoor shower. The library has a wealth of books full of useful info on the fauna, flora and history of the area.
At night, enjoy fine dining under the stars in the boma area. Romantics can book an intimate dinner for two on the private wooden deck and groups can book ahead for a special gin stop on their game drive.
Natural light, fresh free-flowing air, open space and spectacular views of both sky and bush are uninterrupted in the living areas of the Lodge. Each of Makalali Main Lodge’s 30 rooms, spread across three detached river-facing units, is ideally positioned with optimum vantage viewing over the surrounding bush.
