{Jewellery} PANDORA
PANDORA was created to celebrate women and the special moments in their lives. With a history spanning more than thirty years, PANDORA remains committed to providing women across the world with the ultimate jewellery experience. Lee Antony Gray, VP Creative Director, Group Design & Merchandising at PANDORA, shares his thoughts on designing beautiful, hand-finished jewellery for women all over the world.
To PANDORA, all women of the world are unique in their own way; their lives are shaped by memorable moments to express and share, “PANDORA is about celebrating who they are as women; about emotions and moments represented through jewellery. We try and facilitate all of their stories in our designs, to capture their feelings and sentiments in each piece,” says Lee Antony Gray.
“Increasingly, we design with the previous collection in mind. We place great focus on the quality and manufacture of our jewellery to ensure products have longevity. By renewing and refining classic motifs, we tap into the old to create new pieces and increase their relevance by providing as big a canvas as possible for women to style and wear the jewellery,” Lee concludes.
Inspiration behind the new collection
Exploring PANDORA’s core design language, the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection refines and develops the brand’s jewellery universe, tapping into a vintage aesthetic and couture craftsmanship traditions to transform each design into beautifully modern signature pieces. Paying tribute to nature and legend, for Autumn 2015 an enchanting fairy tale world comes to life. Delicate and feminine jewellery illustrating fluid phoenix feathers, luminous leaves and ornate flora and fauna reference a magical, heraldic kingdom.
PANDORA’s design team looks to age-old legends reawakened in current trends for myth and heraldry, trends for avian-inspired embellishment, and popular jewellery pieces from previous seasons. Reworking the feather to a fantastical and fairy tale motif, the new Majestic Feather series is inspired by the mythical phoenix, an ongoing symbol of renewal and strength.
The result is an impressive series of sterling silver jewellery. Stylised, unfurled wings rise to create statement jewellery that showcases the symbolism of the fire bird and PANDORA’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship. The season’s standout ring is hand-set with 132 shimmering cubic zirconia stones and hand-finished with delicate beaded details.
