The Highveld – Johannesburg, Pretoria and Muldersdrift

When to get married here: The Highveld has a subtropical climate with hot summers and a cooler, dry and sunny winter season. Summer temperatures range between 17 and 28 degrees Celsius, winter months average between 5 and 19 degrees Celsius.

Rainy season:  Summer

Reasons to get married here: Gauteng is the capital of luxury, with an endless number of five-star wedding venues and world-class wedding planners. Although well known for its more urban elements, Gauteng and the Highveld area have plenty to offer in the form of natural attractions, such as the majestic Magaliesberg mountain range.

Kwa-Zulu Natal – Durban and the Midlands

When to get married here: KwaZulu-Natal enjoys a warm subtropical climate. The summers are gorgeously hot and humid but that is also the rainy season. A wedding is ideal in winter as the weather is warm, dry and clear with average temperatures of 23 degrees.

 Rainy season: Summer

Reasons to get married here:Many of the venues in the area have their own florists, caterers and decorators, which makes planning easier. The KwaZulu-Natal Midlands are a magical place to get married – think green hillsides and burbling brooks.  It’s worth getting married in the Drakensberg if only for the sheer majesty of the mountains. The range is well known for its famous mountain peaks, which include Giants Castle, Cathedral Peak and Mont-Aux-Sources .

The Cape

When to get married here: The Cape enjoys a Mediterranean climate with well-defined seasons. The winters are cool and wet and the summers are dry and hot. The weather in summer is between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius. The average high temperature during winter is 17 degrees with a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius.

Rainy Season: Summer

Reasons to get married here: Summer is usually slated as the best time to get married, because it is warm but not hot. Winter is often referred to as the off-season but there are pros to getting married in the cooler months, for example costs are lower when the wedding season slows down. That’s if you are fine with dealing with potentially strong winds. The city is recognised by many international wedding planners as one of the best wedding destinations in the world.

Port Elizabeth and East London both get summer rain.

Rainy season: The Garden Route has a similar climate to Cape Town with rain throughout the year.

Reasons to get married here: The Eastern Cape and Garden Route has amazing natural beauty. Couples who enjoy nature can look forward to spectacular mountain cliffs, the seas, flora and dense green bush and forest along the stretch known as the Wild Coast.
