{Real Wedding} Limia and Ahmed
Where and how did you meet?
We met at a friend’s charity dinner in 2010.
How did he propose?
We went for a hike up Lion’s Head in Cape Town early one Sunday morning. When we reached the top, we enjoyed a picnic basket and Ahmed proposed then and there.
Short description of the wedding day
I woke up to a beautiful bouquet of red roses and a heartfelt card from my soon-to- be husband. I spent the morning with my gorgeous mom and bridesmaids having our hair and makeup done. We all got dressed, had our pictures taken and made our way to Lourensford Wine Estate. After the Nikah ceremony, I walked down the aisle with my dad and Ahmed and I exchanged rings. While our guests enjoyed pre-drinks and canapés we had our pictures taken in the magnificent wine estate. At sunset we entered our venue as husband and wife and enjoyed our special wedding reception that was even more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. After the wedding festivities we were chauffer driven to the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town where our honeymoon officially commenced.
If you could change one thing about your wedding day what would it be?
I wish we’d taken more pictures with our guests.
What were your wedding day highlights?
Seeing our venue for the first time, having our family and friends share in our special day, our nikah ceremony, walking down the aisle with my dad, exchanging rings, and leaving the venue as husband and wife.
How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife?
It felt unreal and incredibly special.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
We spent three blissful weeks in Paris, Los Angeles and Bora Bora. I had been to Paris on numerous occasions and Ahmed had been to Los Angeles. We both wanted to see those places and the Four Seasons in Bora Bora was our dream destination to visit. Our over water bungalow had the most beautiful view of Mount Otemanu and it truly was eight days in paradise. We stayed on the Champs Elysees in Paris and in West Hollywood in Los Angeles. Our honeymoon and wedding day was exactly as it should be; romantic and magical.
