Anthea & Bongani

Where and how did you meet?

In Johannesburg – I attended church with his brother.

How did he propose?

We were in New York on holiday and on a chilly Friday afternoon

on 19 December 2014, we went for a walk through Central Park. He asked if I wanted to take a seat on a nearby bench for a photo. I reluctantly agreed as I had been complaining about the cold. As I sat down, he went down on one knee and proposed. I suddenly felt all warm, burst into tears and said yes.

Please provide a short description of your wedding day?

It was relaxed, filled with simple beauty… so magical and ethereal.

If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?

Anthea: I would not stress about insignificant details.

Bongani: I would be more present and enjoy the moment.

What was the highlight of your day?

Anthea:  How Bongani danced to ‘Classic Man’ while going down on his knees to take my garter off.

Bongani: The ceremony itself.

How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife?

It felt natural, filled with inexplicable joy and excitement.

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We flew to Rome, spent three days there and then boarded a cruise ship for a week, sailing around the Mediterranean, stopping at places like Cannes, Barcelona and Naples. We then spent two days in Rome before flying home.

What advice would you give to a bride-to-be?

Enjoy the planning and make it a point to enjoy your wedding day. Those few hours pass by very quickly.
