Lebohang & Phumlani
I blinked and there was a ring in front of me! It was totally unexpected.
Where and how did you meet?
Phumlani and I met in September 2007 at my cousin’s wedding (he’s friends with my cousin) but we only started dating in November 2012.
How did he propose?
Phumlani was very nervous that day. I remember at lunch he even dropped and broke a plate at the restaurant. Later on we were supposed to go out for dinner where he’d planned to propose. Unfortunately we had too much to eat at lunch so we ordered room service instead. He proposed during our light dinner, popping the question out of nowhere. I blinked and there was a ring in front of me! It was totally unexpected.
Please tell us shortly about your wedding day.
It was the most beautiful day ever, emotional and filled with so much of love! It was very romantic.
If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?
Maybe we’d invite a few more guests.
What was the highlight of your day?
For a rather romantic Phumlani, putting the ring on Lebo’s finger meant the most to him.
A beaming Lebo says, “My highlight of the day was hearing the priest announce us as Mr and Mrs Kubheka. It was very special.”
How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife?
It was long overdue, we were both excited and happy that the day had finally come and that we were now married.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
We haven’t gone on our honeymoon yet. We are doing that next year, hopefully on our one-year anniversary.
What advice would you give a soon-to-be bride?
Plan what you want well in advance – the sooner you know what you want, the better. Get a wedding planner/coordinator so that you’re not stressing on your wedding day. And lastly, keep calm and relax!
