Mbali & Pius

We started chatting about work, family and life… and the rest was history.

The stunning traditional wedding between Mbaliu and Pius in the latest issue of Nubian Bride had the wrong story attached to the exquisite photographs by Andre M Photography. Please see the feature below:

Where and how did you meet?
We met at a restaurant in Sunninghill; I was attending a friend’s birthday party and Pius was out with the boys. We started chatting about work, family and life… and the rest was history.

How did he propose?
He proposed to me on his birthday over a candlelit dinner.

Please provide a short description of your traditional wedding day?
It was a mix of colours and pride, encompassing people of different cultures. There was plenty to eat and drink, the décor was exquisite and the entertainment included a live Nigerian band, a DJ and traditional Zulu dancers. We had so many elements, but everything worked beautifully.

If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?
I would change my husband’s health; he fell sick on the week leading up to our wedding and that was stressful for everyone, family and friends.

What was the highlight of your day?
Watching the Zulu dancers perform, the Nigerian ‘chop money’ ceremony and when Mbali’s family sang. And, of course, declaring our love for each other in front of the priest.

How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife?
Awesome.

Where did you go on honeymoon?
We did not plan a honeymoon as I was seven months pregnant at the time and did not want to risk travelling.

What advice would you give to a bride-to-be?
Enjoy and be present in every moment, from the planning to the execution phase, as the day goes by so fast.
