Nontobeko & Nhlanhla
How and where did you meet?
“We met at a church camp in 2011. We had a mutual friend who invited both of us to the camp. At lunch, I remember glancing at him and going “hmmm what a handsome guy.” Other than that, I didn’t make much of our interaction. Nhlanhla, the other hand was interested in getting to know me better, and asked our mutual friend for my contact details. I agreed and the rest is history.”
The Proposal:
It was a complete surprise… “We were meant to go out for dinner, however when he picked me up, he said he had to stop at his place to grab a jacket. When we got there, there was a romantic setup, with a bouquet of beautiful flowers, and a box of chocolates – and of course a small square box. He grabbed the small box, got down on his knee, and asked me to marry him. I was so excited and immediately said YES! We then proceeded to the planned dinner and celebrated.”
The Wedding Day:
I remember being so excited and nervous at the same time – it was the day that we had been planning for what seemed like for ages; and the day had finally arrived. I had a lot of fun in the car driving to the venue with my bridesmaids. There was a lot of dancing and laughter. When I arrived at the venue, the first thing I did was a walk around to check that the Décor was what I had requested, and then started getting ready for a pre-ceremony shoot. We took some lovely pictures in nothing but white shirts and slippers. We were running late so I was a bit panicked. At least the weather was perfect”.
The Ceremony:
“I was extremely excited to walk down the aisle in the most perfect venue. My lovely husband dressed in a blue suit, smiling at me at the end of the aisle. The Pastor gave a beautiful sermon, we then exchanged our vows and sealed it with a kiss.”
“Our MC is a comedian so we were all in stitches the whole night. We danced a lot, laughed a lot and had a beautiful time with family and friends.”
“What I would change about the day is stressing about everything. I was tense leading up to walking down the aisle, and in hindsight it was all for nothing as the day was beautiful and all went well.”
Highlights:
“My highlight of the day was seeing my handsome husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle. It felt beautiful to exchange our vows and recommit ourselves to the Lord, in the presence of our family and friends. We had a small signing ceremony in 2015 where we got legally married, followed by our white wedding in April 2017.”
The Honeymoon:
“We had our honeymoon in Thailand. We stayed in Phuket then went on to Phi Phi Island for some very chilled vibes. It was a beautiful experience.”
Advice:
“Our advice to future brides is – get a wedding planner you trust! Do not stress on your big day. Keep your dressing room free of too many people – just have your bridal party and close family. Most importantly have fun and surrender yourself to the day. Be in the moment!”
