Thapi & Lekgari
Thapi and Lekgari met through mutual friends
We went on a blind date – and that was the start.
How did he propose? It was my 40th birthday. Lekgari organised a surprise with my best friend, who was about to get married. She asked me to accompany her to help her design her wedding ring. I told her what I wanted mine to look like –only to find that he proposed with the exact ring I had designed on my birthday!
Please provide a short description of your wedding day. Our wedding was breathtaking. The weather was excellent and all went according to plan. The ceremony was officiated by our Pastor who is also a friend. The day was filled with laughter, music, dancing and a flurry of emotions. We named our tables after our five kids; making them part of this celebration was overwhelming.
If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be? I would extend the time and make the day last even longer.
What was the highlight of your day? When I was on a horse cart, being driven to the Matrimonial ceremony… that was breathtaking. Also my make-up by Khotso Lakaje was on point.
How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife? This was long overdue… We both felt finally fulfilled. It was very emotional, given the challenges we encountered along the way.
Where did you go on honeymoon? We went to Dubai, then enjoyed seven days on a Caribbean Cruise.
