Where and how did you meet?

We met in September 2012 when his cousin visited me for a weekend. She invited my now-husband to lunch at my place, and the rest is history.

 How did he propose?

We were watching TV on a Friday evening. I was pregnant, wearing my PJs (not looking sexy at all). When he popped the big question, I thought he was joking. I asked him where the ring was and he said he didn’t have it, so I laughed at him. He said, “I’m waiting for an answer” and I replied, “Are you really serious”? He said he was, so I said “yes”. I only got my ring a year later.

Please provide a short description of your wedding day

If I could pick one word to describe our wedding it would be “meaningful”. My favourite colour is white and my husband’s is black so we chose an elegant black-and-white themed wedding. Our invitations were unique black-and-white boxes with our initials on them. We didn’t want round tables and table numbers, so our tables were named after the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5:22 in the Bible. We chose to use only white flowers to go with the theme.

If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?

I wouldn’t change anything. Everything was just perfect.

What was the highlight of your day?

Our vows to each other, my mother walking me down the aisle, my husband’s speech at our reception, our first dance, the decor, our funny MCs and our dance entrance at the wedding reception.

How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife?

It was humbling but exciting.

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We have not been on honeymoon yet. We plan on going this year.

What advice would you give to a bride-to-be?

Finding a wedding dress is like finding a husband; once you have found the perfect wedding dress, it’s time to stop looking. Also, your wedding day is about you and your husband.
