Welcome to our new feature, designer of the month –where we showcase the work of different local and international designers. This month we’re loving, fashion designer, Galia Lahav and her gorgeous, dramatic wedding gowns. Her fashion house, Galia Lahav, defines a new era of elite fashion for women through stunning evening and bridal gowns. She’s a world-renowned designer with over 30 years of establishment in haute couture.

Galia, who’s based in Israel, was born in Russia into a family of seamstresses. Even as a young girl, she had a strong passion for sewing and designing. She branched off into teaching art and this developed her design skills helping her turn her artwork into fashion and soon after her brand was born. As she began in the bridal industry creating custom made wedding gowns for brides she quickly became a sensation in Israel. As her brand grew so did her name making her a well recognised designer who is loved and adored by her brides.

She is presently considered to be one of world’s leading designers customising lavish gowns for high profile celebrities and aristocratic women abroad. But Galia stays true to her origins as a designer as she still only showcases romantic and dramatic elements through each captivating gown.

We love her exquisite creations from the delicate embroidery, dramatic dress trains and backs to the fine beaded fabric details – each piece exudes art characteristics from all mediums. The attention to detail is remarkable and each design shows of the magic of the female form. But while her gowns are masterpieces, they’re not for everyone as the dresses work best on tall, slim figures!
