Welcome to Savannah Game and River Retreat, wedding and conference venue. We are situated in the Free State just outside Parys – nestled in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. We border 8km of the Vaal River and we are home to 25 different mammal species which include buffalo, giraffe, sable, zebra and kudu. Our photo opportunities are endless with grass planes, vibrant sunsets, bushveld, mountains, wild animals, Sotho ruins and the Vaal river to name but a few.
When you get married at Savannah, the retreat becomes exclusively yours where you can spend time with loved ones catching up at the boma, having a refreshment at our ‘bush-bar’ and later taking a stroll through the bushveld. Our open air chapel is surrounded by ancient white stinkhout trees and as you say ‘I do’, the river gently flows past and the sunset explodes into brilliant colours of orange and red against the mountains of the Vredefort Dome. Tranquility and peace surround Savannah, and if you are lucky, you might hear the call of a fish eagle perched nearby…

Our conference centre is peaceful and within walking distance of our accommodation, bush bar and swimming pool. We can accommodate up to 60 delegates in this intimate centre equipped with projector, whiteboard, coffee/tea station, tables, chairs, aircon and water. You might even get unexpected guests as the giraffes roam past to their favourite feeding spot. Our riverside venue, with its own private bar, can take up to 200 delegates and is fully equipped with a projector, whiteboard, coffee/tea station, decorations, chairs, tables and water. This venue is perfect for all of your event requirements.

As a day visitor you can enjoy a lazy day at the swimming pool and kiddie’s splash pool or have a more competitive time on our multi-sports court or at the pool table. We have lots of space on our lawn so bring a picnic basket or have a braai at the boma. Savannah offers a safe environment for you and your family to come spend quality time.

•Guided river rafting tours or, for the more adventurous, bring your own boat and see where the river leads you

•Fly-fishing on the beautiful Vaal river

For those who would like to stay with us, Savannah offers luxury bush accommodation with all of the necessities provided. These include tented chalets, rondawels and lodge accommodation with family and single rooms.
All rooms have DSTV, wall heaters, electric blankets, a coffee station, toiletries, fan, bar fridge with an honesty bar, private entrance, hairdryer, mini hair straightener and bath sheet towels.
