{Real Wedding} Khumi and Simphiwe

All it took was an eight-hour conversation marathon for Simphiwe and Khumi to know that they were meant to be together. The couple had both worked at Sasol in Secunda and attended the same Sasol gym. Simphiwe had been  eyeing out Khumi for a while before he summoned up the courage to introduce himself. It is safe to say that initially Khumi was not impressed in the least. It was only after seeing each other again a few weeks later that she started to become interested.

The theme for the wedding, the bride explains, was African with a Western twist. On their big day the couple held two separate ceremonies. In the morning was the formal church ceremony with the exchanging of vows, and later in the afternoon the umembeso/dikapeso ceremony was held, which symbolised the traditional joining of the two families.

The couple had an African dance performance, which helped create a truly African experience and was a highlight for Khumi. For the groom, seeing Khumi in her Zulu outfit, which emphasised her true African beauty, was the highlight.
