Pamela and McDonald Kgare got married at the breathtaking Letaba River Lodge, in Tzaneen. See their story below.
How did you meet?
We met in Johannesburg in 2008, through a campus ministry called Campus Outreach. Our friendship blossomed from there, until we decided to kick it up a notch and started dating four years later.
How did he propose?
Marriage was something that we both wanted. When he asked me to date him, I gave him my heart, trusting that we were going to end up married someday. He didn’t do the traditional, “one knee” proposal. On our one year anniversary, he told me he was going to tell his parents he found a wife and six months later we were married.
Give us a short description of the wedding day?
The wedding reception was held at the Letaba River Lodge. The day started with my parents chief negotiators paying off the last lobola to my uncles. After the negotiations and final lobola payments were done, we had a beautiful garden ceremony, on a beautiful sunny day surrounded by family and friends. It was a bitter sweet day, I couldn’t stop wishing that my mother, who passed on a couple of years back, was there to celebrate with us.
If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?
Not hiring a videographer
What were your highlights of the day?
Bride : The highlight of the day was standing before my family and friends saying my vows to my husband.
Groom : Committing my life to my best friend for a lifetime.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
We honeymooned in the Wilderness, a small town near George. We took our time to find a small B&B that was far from the city chaos to allow us time to connect and unwind.
