The couple met when they worked together at a previous company. For the groom it was love at first sight, but for Phumla it took longer to reciprocate the feelings. She first thought she had just made a really good friend. The white wedding took place on a chilly winter’s day in Krugersdorp. Because the groom is a Pedi man with roots in Limpopo and the bride is Zulu, they also held two culture ceremonies.
On the day, the bride says her nerves were shot, she was so anxious to finally marry the love of her life that she couldn’t wait for the arranged transport to come pick her up; she made her own way to the venue instead.
The bride wore an ivory white dress with a special flower made of crystals on her waist to complement the gown. Not to be outdone by his bride, Jeremia varied his attire between a three-piece silver suit and a classic black suit.
The simple yet elegant theme was carried through to the décor, which included the bride’s favourite, stunning damask tablecloths. The food was also kept simple with hearty, soul food. To add to the ambience of the event, the guest were treated to R’n’B and soft jazz with some well-loved hits from local afro-pop group Mafikizolo.
