“There are a million girls around the world, but I don’t see anyone but you.” These were the words Alex and Quinton may have been listening to when they first met at a R’n’B singer, Neyo’s concert last year in Cape Town. However, at the time, it may have seemed that fate was not on their side. The bride, who was still a student, only had three months before she would graduate and return home to Mozambique. Instead of enjoying the precious remaining months together, Quinton was forced to move to Pretoria for work.
Love, however, prevailed, despite the long distances. Quinton continued to visit his future bride and after just five months, he proposed to Alex on his birthday on the beach in Mauritius, surrounded by the beautiful view, good food and wine.
The couple initially wanted a spring wedding, but had to change their plans when their chosen venue, the wonderfully rustic Avianto in Muldersdrift, was fully booked that September. It was only in June that Alex got to marry her chosen man in her chosen venue. The couple picked a white, silver and green theme. Her bridesmaids wore pretty green dresses in different styles in support of the theme. The bride wore a romantic Lady Marmalaide gown with a criss-cross back detail, which took four months to reach the anxious bride. The groom wore a grey pinstripe suit.
The couple’s first dance was to wedding favourite, Kenny Lattimore’s For you. But, according to the bride, not even the beautiful words of that song could compare to her husband’s speech, in which he promised her “forever” and “all the nice things,” she says, giggling.
