{Pinterest} Nwabisa’s Afrocentric Retro Wedding

We asked our Editor and Editorial Assistants to show us in pictures what their weddings are likely to look like. Here is the first wedding of the three, Nwabisa’s Afrocentric Retro Wedding. Feel free to let us know what you think.

What inspired your theme?

A bit of everything really. There’s a part of me that lives in the 60’s, even though it knows nothing what that era was like. Also, no matter how hard I try to be the glam type, the Afrocentric bit of me always outshines the glamorous me, it’s sad really, because I would love to wear sky high heels. And when people ask, “Oh my, such high heels, are they comfortable?  I would forge a smile and say: ” What? You mean my six inch heels? Darling, they’re as comfortable as sneakers.”  Perhaps it is time for some serious introspection (that is, to decide if I want to be stuck in the era where cellphones were just a figment of our imagination and SABC1 was still TV1 or to move along with the times like everyone else.)

Is there something that you wish you could have done differently?

Not really. I’m happy with what I chose. I just wish I had more time to add things that make a wedding. Little things like a cake, a picture of my ideal husband showing off his torso, you know all the very nice stuff that make the heart melt and other women wish they had thought of this theme?

If you were to choose a celebrity to be your husband, who would it be and why?

I’m not the type that gets excited about people (okay, only when I’m under medication) .  After crushing really hard on Idris Elba, Ashton Kutcher, Denzel Washington,  holy molly even Samuel L Jackson!  Honestly, my hormones have no shame. I realised,  somewhere between  Morris Chestnut and Robert Pattinson I could  make a perfect wife to Hugh Jackman. He is the freshest breath of air.

Who among your friends and family is likely to be your maid of honour?

My sister Okuhle Ngumbela. She’s funny, incredibly smart and I know without doubt she would make sure that my special day is everything I ever imagined and so much more, of course only when we’re not grating each other’s last nerve.

Where would you like to go on your honeymoon?

How about around the world? I would love to spend three days in each capital city of every country in the world. I would probably make it to the Guiness Book of Records for the longest honeymoon ever.
