{Real Wedding} Jane & Michel
Jane and Michel Aubertin tied the knot in a traditional Zulu wedding ceremony in Vosloorus on 27 March 2010. A Zulu from South Africa, Jane met her Prince Charming, who was born in Jamaica, on a cruise ship, and the two instantly felt a connection. Although they come from two very different worlds, they connected through their individual musical creativity – and they wanted their wedding to reflect this.
With the groomsmen contingent all hailing from the home-grown afro-alternative rock group BLK JKS, it was clear that besides each other the couple really loved music. The wedding ceremony took place at Jane’s mother’s house, and as is custom, the whole community was involved – donning the most colourful of outfits to honour Jane and Michel’s special day. Cars lined the street, and everywhere you turned you saw blankets of colour adorning moving bodies pulsing with excitement.
The extended family and friendship circle came to join in and celebrate this event. Just as the ceremony drew to a close, the African sky filled up with clouds of thunder as if to pass its blessing onto Jane and Michel’s union, and almost on cue the entire party broke into song and dance. The party went on till the wee hours of the morning.
