{Real Wedding} Matshepo & Vusi

Matshepo and Vusi’s wedding definately brought a smile to all our faces. The wedding was a weekend-long affair and had everything that you can expect from a real South African wedding: music, food and getting down! Read below for more on their big day.

Where are you and Vusi from?
I am from Westrand Mohlakeng Randfontein, Vusi is from Ramotse Hammanskraal Pretoria. We now live in Muldersdrift,  Krugersdorp.

Where and how did the two of you meet?
We met through a friend of mine in late 2002.  He saw me in my friend’s photo album and asked her if she could organise a meeting. We clicked from the first day we saw each other. It was a blind date for me. We were both very shy then and he’s still is.  I was in high school and he was working so we would see each every weekend. He would drive from Fourways to Mohlakeng. 10 years later we are married …

How did Vusi propose?
He first paid lobola in 2006 while I was in college, we got engaged 2009. We were watching TV when he started acting strange, he was very uncomfortable when I asked him what was wrong he kept saying ‘niks’ (nothing) but he couldn’t sit still. He walked to the kitchen to pour us wine. He knew that I examine everything I eat or drink,  so he knew I would check before drinking the wine and ‘voila’ there it was blinging as ever! And in 2010 God blessed us with a baby girl Khulani … naughty but we love her to bits.

Can you give us a short description of the wedding day?
We got married on the 22nd of December. We planned our wedding from the beginning to end with the help from our friends and family. The last week before the wedding was a nightmare especially the day before the wedding when it seemed like everything was working against us. It got worse on the morning of the wedding but i wasn’t letting anything  ruin my big day. We also had to wait for the groom and best man for 3 hours.

What was the highlight for you and Vusi on your wedding day?
The highlight of the day for me was seeing my husband cry for the first time in 10 years. He had almost everyone at the church in tears. We also arrived at Vusi’s home in Hammanskraal in the wee hours of the morning when we were supposed to arrive latest at 8pm, our inlaws wouldn’t let us inside the yard. Seeing my bridesmaides and groomsmen lookingbBeautiful and elegant was also a highlight. The decor and cars in Hammanskraal were out of this world.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?
We were planning to go to France via London but time was not on our side. There wasn’t enough time to organise the necessary visas and transit visas and it was winter up there. We decided to go to Mauritius instead and it was beautiful.
